Fundamentals of Commercial Real Estate

The Commercial Real Estate Industry touches on every aspect in business. Every corporation and company, no matter how large or small, needs expertise in real estate to grow, whether it is through acquiring additional land, building or space. Commercial real estate also connects with every aspect of our daily lives: where we shop, where we work, and where we live, and encompasses all aspects of development, sales, leasing, management, investment in or improvement of property, investment property, agriculture, hospitality, business, industry, and myriad of other types of property.
Participants in the course will study ground-up development, fundamental real estate finance, the ins-and-outs of the real estate contract, deeds and how to differentiate covenants within those deeds, and valuation of real property using traditional methods of appraisal.
Intro to Real Estate Investing

This course will help create success for you in residential and commerical real estate while providing you the tools and knowledge that will help future personal real estate and mortgage market decisions. In the course, you will learn how to describe, analyze and compare mortgage loans and leases, conduct income propery investment analysis in transactions, and understand operations and valuations of private equity funds and real estate investment trusts (REITs) and how real estate is securitized to everyday investors. Topics include calculating mortgage payments, real estate valuation, investment analysis, leverage and risk analysis, secondary mortgage markets and REITs, and institutional real estate investment.
Intro to Real Estate Law

The six-week course covers a range of topics in law as it relates to commercial real estate. In the course, you will gain a general understanding of legal concepts in real estate, a clearer picture of rights for both tenants and landlords, contract analysis and key court cases and the impact it has on commercial real estate development. The following subjects will be covered in depth: Basics of the U.S. Legal System; Record Searches and Deeds, Land Interests, Mortgages and Foreclosures, Contract Law, Title and Closings, and Leases.
