Dean Sharon Matusik Leads Ƶ Toward the Future
Learn about Ƶ’s strategy for the next five years and beyond.
Last summer, Ƶ kicked-off a systemwide strategic plan to identify the university’s strategic priorities for the future. Working closely with Ƶ President Mark Kennedy, Dean Sharon Matusik was named a co-chair for the Ƶ systemwide “Lean Into the Future” , together with Ƶ Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Todd Saliman.
Matusik and Saliman identified six primary goals:
- Lean into the Fourth Industrial Revolution
- Optimize collaboration across departments, campuses, system and external partners
- Make the case for Ƶ with the state and reconceive Ƶ's international role
- Align all elements of governance: regents, system and campuses
- Shine light on areas of success and need
- Answer intractable challenges
Conversations and collaboration with many stakeholders have been considered key to the strategic planning process—including working with the Board of Regents, faculty, students and staff, campus chancellors and their teams, and the broader Ƶ community.
This collaborative process has resulted in , being explored by working groups:
- Access, affordability, and student success
- Discovery and impact
- Fiscal strength
- Diversity, inclusion, equity and access
The final strategic plan will be presented for review and approval at this summer’s Ƶ Regent Retreat, with implementation planned for Fall 2020-2025.
