Meet Glenna Lovan (MBA '12)
Jul. 27, 2011
Aloha! My name is Glenna Lovan. Originally from O’ahu, Hawai’I, I currently call Boulder my (temporary) home. I am launching into my second year in the MBA program and am enjoying every second of my summer break!
My past includes graduating with a BBA in Marketing and Management from the Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. I have also worked for companies such as Merrill Lynch and the Bank of Hawaii and with companies such as Taco Bell and Pizza Hut Hawaii and Ala Moana Center (the nation’s largest open-air shopping mall). My past also includes beaches, palm trees, two weddings (to the same man) and an adoption (of a puppy).
My present includes being an entrepreneur. I, along with 5 other MBA students, have organized our own consulting business – a tradition in the Leeds MBA program since 1998. So far, I have created a strategic marketing plan for a local non-profit and am currently working on a feasibility analysis of a new venture for a large snow sports company and a competitive analysis for an international health-food distributor. I should also mention that my present includes mountains, rivers, hiking, a husband (the same man) and a doggy (who grew up from a puppy).
My future is highly anticipated. In September, I will walk into Leeds as a second year MBA student. My schedule will finally consist of classes that I desire: Marketing Strategy, Business Plan Development, Conflict and Negotiation and one other that I can’t remember… oh yeah, Digital Marketing. I will be talking to prospective students as the Leeds MBA Ambassador Coordinator. (If you want to shadow a student, feel free to email me at Glenna.Lovan@Colorado.edu). I will also diligently grade papers as a core teaching assistant and will monitor and engage in social media as the VP of Communications for the GEA (Graduate Entrepreneurs Association). Other things my future holds: graduating in 2012, starting my own marketing company, building a human family and loving life!
