Application deadlines:

  • Consideration for fall admittance
    • Early Decision Application Deadline:  Jan. 15 for international applicants
    • Early Decision Application Deadline:  Feb. 1 domestic applicants
    • Official Application Deadline:  April 15
  • Consideration for spring admittance
    • Official Application Deadline:  Oct. 1

We are offering an early decision application deadline as noted above. We know that you may be applying to more than one program, and we want to provide you with timely information to make an informed decision about graduate school. As such, if you submit your completed application and application fee by this early decision deadline, our admissions committee will inform you of a decision within one month of the early decision deadline. (Note: if you have already submitted your application, please ensure that you have included all necessary materials and paid your application fee. International applications may also take a longer time to process and result in a decision delay.)

  1. Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited college or university.
  2. GPA of at least 3.0.
  3. Computing experience, such as R, Python, C, C++ or MATLAB. Experience with UNIX can be helpful.
  4. Completion of a rigorous calculus sequence and linear algebra are required. More advanced courses, such as Probability Theory, Introduction to Statistics, and Advanced Calculus (analysis), are strongly desired. Other advanced coursework in, for example, partial differential equations, complex analysis or numerical analysis would also be beneficial.
  5. Online application.
  6. Personal statement in essay form providing work history, educational background, and academic and professional goals.
  7. Three letters of recommendation.
  8. TOEFL scores (international applicants only), unless the student has completed at least one year of full-time academic study in the United States or if English is the primary language in the student’s native country.

 

Note:
As of April 2021, the Department of Applied Mathematics has decided to permanently remove the GRE test (both general and subject) from our PhD and Professional MS program applications.​
