Organizations
The AWM Boulder chapter seeks to encourage women to be active in the mathematical sciences and to promote a culture that fosters equal treatment of all students and faculty within the Applied Math and Math departments at the University of Colorado through Advocacy, Mentorship, and Community Engagement.
The ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Boulder graduate student chapter of SIAM was founded as an organization to meet the needs of graduate students interested in mathematics and its applications. Chapter functions include technical presentations by students, faculty, and industry speakers, field trips and social events.
The ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Boulder undergraduate chapter of SIAM, one of the newest engineering societies at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ, was founded to promote interactions between Applied Math students and faculty. In addition to applied math undergaduates and some graduate students, SIAM has also attracted students from other engineering disciplines to its activities.
Our mission is to build a community of undergraduate students that share any level of interest in statistics and data science. We will bring in guest speakers from the industry, participate in data-based projects to serve the local community and data science competitions, and provide workshops on technical and job search skills. These activities will help build confidence among students as they near graduation or apply for internships. Outside of the classroom, we will promote an environment where students are welcome to express any concerns and also relax with friends
