In 2013, the torrents of water that poured out of the mountains, ripping up roads and inundating Boulder, Lyons, Longmont and other Front Range communities, also resulted in a deluge of questions. Both the general public and local officials wondered just how unusual this rainfall and flooding had been. Had something like it happened before? Sometimes they happen on the other side of the world, in a classroom with a young student who can’t read sheet music, and who can barely speak your language. Classical guitarist Patrick Sutton (DMA'14) splits his time between performing and teaching students in nations without access to music education. He talks about his time spent in Afghanistan, Egypt and South Africa.

Thirty-eight teams have signed up to toss their ideas into the entrepreneurial ring the evening of Oct. 7, the first pitch event of the University of Colorado Boulder’s eighth annual New Venture Challenge. Though the event has reached full registration capacity both for pitchers and audience members, it’s not too late for people to become involved in NVC events throughout the school year building up to the season finals this spring.

Anne Castle, who served as assistant secretary for water and science in the U.S. Department of the Interior from 2009 to 2014, has joined the Getches-Wilkinson Center for Natural Resources, Energy and the Environment – part of the University of Colorado Boulder law school – as a senior fellow.

Students encouraged to arrive early and wear silver for Saturday's Oregon game

Students attending the first Pac-12 conference home football game Saturday against Oregon at 8 p.m. are encouraged to arrive at Folsom Field early to enjoy all the gameday festivities and to wear silver (or gray) as we attempt to stripe the stadium silver and black.
