We're glad that you are considering the flagship of the University of Colorado, located on the beautiful Boulder campus, as your new academic home to pursue the study of theatre or dance. 

Each faculty member in the Department of Theatre & Dance has professional experience in the performing arts and is committed to engaging students in the creation, performance, and analysis of theatre arts.

In and outside of the classroom you will find many opportunities for one-on-one interaction with professors through working on productions, independent research, creative projects, mentoring, and advising.

  Learn from distinguished faculty and staff as well as a variety of guest artists and scholars

Scholarships & Awards

In addition to funds available from the university, students may qualify for awards from the Department of Theatre & Dance.

Our department awards scholarships to undergraduate and graduate level students each year. Both divisions have scholarship opportunities ranging from a few hundred to several thousand dollars. Students self-nominate or apply for certain awards and others are selected by faculty/staff vote.

Our Production Season

Each season our department produces a wide variety of productions. Past productions include:

  • Mainstage musicals
  • Student-choreographed dance concerts 
  • Student-directed scenes 
  • Site-specific, integrative movement performances
  • Intimate black-box style theatre
