Maybe. It depends on the credit hours of the classes you took (e.g., 3-credit, 4-credit, or 5-credit) and which curriculum you used. Taking the online placement test will validate your level of proficiency, determine whether the courses you took at another institution fulfills the university’s foreign language requirements, and to determine which ASL course level to enroll in at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ-Boulder. You should also reach out to your ASL instructor at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ-Boulder to discuss your previous experience with ASL and how ASL will be taught at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ-Boulder.

No. You must enroll in a sign language interpreting program to obtain professional training to become a sign language interpreter. However, the ASL courses you take at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ-Boulder may transfer to a sign language interpreting program. Contact the sign language interpreting program you are interested in enrolling in to discuss whether the ASL courses you’ve taken at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ-Boulder will transfer.
No. ASL courses at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ-Boulder are very popular and tend to fill to capacity every semester. Students are encouraged to join the waitlist for ASL courses if they cannot enroll and to remain on the waitlist to become eligible to use the Course Reservation option, which will allow you to enroll in an ASL course the following semester. Dropping the course off the waitlist will remove you from the ability to use the Course Reservation option. The Course Reservation option will allow you to enroll in a course in the next following semester.
Once you are enrolled in ASL 1 for Session A, contact the SLHS Undergraduate Advisor so that he/she can set the permissions for you to enroll in ASL 2 for Session B.
