Experiential Leadership Education
We are committed to creating and supporting tangible, inclusive experiences that deepen leadership development learning.
Experiential learning is an approach to developing leadership skills and knowledge through hands-on, real-world experiences. It places students in situations that challenge them to make decisions, solve problems, communicate, and interact with others in a leadership capacity. It fosters self-awareness and reflection, allowing students to recognize and address their strengths and weaknesses, and develop a growth mindset.
Experiential education is a powerful tool for developing leaders because it encourages aspiring leaders to step out of their comfort zones, take risks, and learn from their successes and failures. It provides practical experiences to help students build the skills, confidence, and resilience necessary to lead effectively in today's complex and rapidly changing world.
With a variety of offerings, from mentoring and coaching to outdoor programs and executive education, the Center for Leadership is committed to providing experiential and innovative leadership development opportunities for our students and members of the greater ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ community.

It’s been 20 years since Alternative Breaks (AB) first launched at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Boulder. We have maintained the student-centered and led nature of our program and sent groups of students seeking to become active citizens to communities around the country, and world. The choice for Site Leaders to spend six months training, planning, and organizing trip details to facilitate an experience for participants is one of commitment and servant leadership. Our participants have chosen to spend their spring breaksÌýlearning, serving and reflecting on how to impact the range of social and environmental issues that impact communities around the world.
