The Immigration and Citizenship Law Program hosts events throughout the academic year, including:

  • The Citizenship and Equality Colloquium, which features nationally prominent guest speakers whose research focuses on the concept of citizenship
  • A works-in-progress series supporting Colorado immigration scholars and graduate students
  • Keynote lectures and roundtable discussions by immigration attorneys and scholars on contemporary policy issues
  • Quarterly pro bono citizenship and naturalization drives

Fall 2021

October 15, 2021 (11am-12pm MT). An event for lawyers/scholars: What in the world is going on in D.C. with immigration reform, executive action and DACA?? Join us this Friday, Oct. 15 at 11am for a conversation to help lawyers, scholars and activists advocate for immigrants in uncertain times.

October 20, 2021 (5:30-6:30pm MT). An event for community: What in the world is going on in D.C. with immigration reform, executive action and DACA?? Join us on Oct. 20 at 5:30 pm for a conversation to inform affected community members, allies and activists about pathways forward. Translation in Spanish provided.

 

 

January 20, 2021 (12-1pm MT). Citizenship: from the past to the present. Panel discussion with professors Lucy Chester, Honor Sachs, Seema Sohi, and Ming H. February 22, 2021 (5-6:30pm MT). Lecture on Access to Justice for Immigrants. UCLA Professor Ingrid Eagley and RMIAN Attorney Ashley Harrington will present their research and experiences on national and local representation for immigrants. This lecture is dedicated to Breanna Boss Ƶ Law '21. Register .

Ƶ Professor Fernando Riosmena will present "Worlds in Motion: A re-appraisal of Thinking on and Empirical Evaluation of Migration Theories." April 8-9, 2021. Byron White Center's Rothgerber Conference on CItizenship. Thursday night will include a performance by MOTUS Theater (5-6:30pm MT). Friday will include a fireside chat with author Ming Hsu Chen in conversation with Hiroshi Motomura on Pursuing Citizenship in the Enforcement Era (Stanford Press 2020). It will be followed by a full day of exciting panel discussions with nationally known speakers conducting work on citizenship (9-4pm) and postconference discussion on next steps in small groups (4-5pm MT). Citizenship and Equality Colloquium

The Citizenship and Equality Colloquium features nationally prominent guest speakers whose research focuses on the concept of citizenship. Substantively, the series connects immigration with studies of race, international human rights, gender, criminality and many others. Methodologically, the series spans law, political science, sociology, and history. The public lectures are connected with a law school seminar class.
