Research

Designing devices that can assist in human movement is a complex task that requires a deep understanding of how humans typically move within different conditions and how they interact with devices. When creating a powered device, you must design a controller that dictates the device's behavior, which is governed by inputs from the human user. You can also provide additional information to the user about the device's behavior for better integration. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the field, we implement parallel research thrusts that focus on different aspects of the human-device system, all with the overall goal of better performance outcomes for individuals that use these devices.

Research Goals: Device control, sensory augmentation, and understanding human-device interaction
