  • The at the University of Colorado Boulder (¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Boulder) is partnering with the to develop and grow an informed, involved, and impactful Colorado Local Science Engagement Network (CO-LSEN). CO-LSEN is a test-bed for local science engagement and advocacy, and accordingly coordinates and shares information, experiences, and insights with AAAS to inform their ongoing formulation of a nationwide strategy for supporting policy-engaged scientist networks at the state level. We regularly host panels and events to bring together policymakers and researchers tackling the challenges of our times from fire planning to a just transition. CO LSEN brings relevant and timely science to bear on policy decisions at the local and state levels so that policies are better suited to address challenges related to climate change, sustainability, technology adoption, and natural resource management in Colorado.   • In the summer of 2022, a delegation from the European Union visited campus to discuss climate-based solutions to policy.
  • The University of Colorado Boulder hosted the UN Conference on Climate and Human Rights in December 2022. Prof. Boykoff served on the Steering Committee and Prof. Pezzullo spoke at an on campus event focused on the theme of the climate's impact on human rights.
  • In 2022, Prof. Pezzullo led a new initiative called the Colorado Environmental Justice Digital Storytelling Project, which partnered with the Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment (CDPHE) on creating storymaps to increase public participation in environmental justice decision-making in the state. In 2023, those became publicly available on the CDPHE website and she continues to work with them on ways to increase public participation.
