A&S Residential Academic Program

The Residential Academic Program (RAPs) helps cultivate a sense of belonging with a liberal arts college atmosphere, supported by faculty and staff dedicated to the first-year experience. RAPs offer a broad curriculum of seminar-style courses, with associated events and activities. RAP classes are small and intimate, take place in the residence hall where the RAP students live, and are limited to students in that residence hall. Most RAP courses satisfy general education and/or major requirements, welcoming students to campus while supporting academic success.

The First Year Experience in the College of Arts and Sciences will provide students with tools to:

  • Develop a sense of intellectual purpose that equips them to be active participants in the life of a major research university and beyond.
  • Develop a sense of belonging and affinity with ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Boulder.
  • Develop an understanding of the relationship between holistic wellness (including physical and mental wellness) and academic success.
  • Articulate the value of diversity in learning and community.
  • Demonstrate the ability to engage respectfully and meaningfully with others from diverse backgrounds and different perspectives.
  • Have the opportunity to explore their identity and how that intersects with  those of their peers and the greater Boulder community.
  • Learn the skills that will enable them to connect with faculty, staff and students who can help them on their college journey.
