Chief Operating Officer Patrick O’Rourke announced today that he has appointed Amy Hutton to serve as the new associate vice chancellor for enrollment management at Ƶ Boulder, effective Sept. 11, following a national search.

Hutton joins Ƶ Boulder from the University of Alabama where she has served as assistant vice president for enrollment management since February 2021. She will report directly to O’Rourke at Ƶ Boulder, overseeing all aspects of enrollment management, including admissions, financial aid, the bursar, and pre-college and outreach programs.

“I am thrilled for Amy to bring her experience in enrollment management and data analytics to our team,” O’Rourke said. “The Division of Enrollment Management is vital to the success of our students at every point in their Ƶ Boulder journey. Amy’s unique expertise will be invaluable to Ƶ Boulder and our students, and she will be a wonderful partner with our colleagues across campus as we develop and implement Ƶ Boulder’s first strategic enrollment management plan.”

At Alabama, Hutton and her team enrolled the largest freshman class in university history multiple years in a row while at the same time increasing the diversity and academic profile. The university also grew transfer and international student enrollment during her tenure.

Prior to Alabama, Hutton served in a number of roles at Virginia Commonwealth University (VƵ), including director of enrollment research and evaluation and interim head of admissions operations technology. She also served as director of admissions for the VƵ music department and as an assistant professor in the School of the Arts.

Hutton’s past experience also includes working in multiple roles on Broadway. She holds a doctorate of education from VƵ with an emphasis in research and evaluation, as well as a master’s degree in theater pedagogy from VƵ. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in musical arts from DePauw University.

Hutton replaces Jennifer McDuffie, who has served as interim associate vice chancellor of enrollment management since December. McDuffie will continue in her duties as associate vice chancellor and chief of staff for Strategic Resources and Support.

“I want to thank Jennifer for her leadership and resiliency in serving in dual roles over the past several months, as well as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management Ofelia Morales for her leadership in helping to guide us through a period of transition,” O’Rourke said. “I also want to thank our search committee and search committee chairperson Katherine Eggert for their work in identifying a talented and diverse group of candidates, as well as the dozens of faculty and staff who participated in the interviews.”
