Through the fall semester, campus officials are providing weekly updates, including dashboard stats and items of note on positive cases, isolation, contact tracing, mitigation measures and more.Ìý

Return to hybrid and in-person instruction

  • The ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Boulder community resumed in-person and hybrid in-person classes on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
  • The number of COVID-19 cases among students has dropped significantly from the surge in September. With the support of Boulder County Public Health, the campus was able to return to the original hybrid model of instruction that was in place at the start of the fall 2020 semester.

Spring 2021

  • Campus leaders are in the process of finalizing plans for the spring 2021 semester.
  • Information on the spring 2021 academic calendar, details on course instruction modes and plans for campus operations will be shared with the campus the week of Oct. 19.
  • Also the week of Oct. 19, students will receive the standard notification from the Office of the Registrar regarding their assigned enrollment dates for class registration. The spring 2021 schedule of classes will be available on Nov. 2, and registration begins for current degree-seeking students on Nov. 9.Ìý

Updates on the latest Boulder County Public Health order

  • that as of noon on Tuesday, Oct. 13, the county moved to level A of the current public health order on gatherings for 18-to-22-year-olds.
  • What this means for all 18-to-22-year-olds in the city of Boulder:
    • People between the ages of 18 and 22 may gather with others in groups of up to six persons.
    • They are permitted to visit businesses (restaurants, retail, etc.) as long as participants are following physical distancing, as well as gathering size limits.

Events

  • Boulder County Public Health’s in the most recent public health order allows for limited ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ-sponsored in-person events on campus.
    • Our university moratorium on in-person, on-campus events remains in place until further guidance is finalized. Narrow exceptions to this are being made in the interim for events organized by Student Affairs to help support the health and well-being of our students and create opportunities for community among our students.
    • The campus is working with ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ departments/units and students using the county and state public health recommendations to develop what ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ-sponsored events will look like, and will provide more information soon.Ìý

Screening tests

  • The campus COVID-19 monitoring testing program is open to all students, faculty and staff at six on-campus testing sites. Details of the program are outlined on the campus COVID-19 resources page and on the Protect Our Herd website.
  • On Monday, Oct. 12, the hours of the Sustainability, Energy & Environment Community monitoring site shifted to noon to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, to increase access to testing for frontline staff whose shifts start in the afternoon.

Isolation space

  • As of the morning of Thursday, Oct. 15, the university had nine beds in use of the 623 beds available for on-campus residents in need of isolation space.

Testing sites off campus

  • The state of Colorado is currently providing a free community testing site in Boulder, available through Nov. 8. More information is on
  • Residents do not have to have symptoms to be tested.

Weekly COVID-19 update sessions

  • Every Tuesday at noon, campus leaders host a live COVID-19 update for faculty, staff, students and Buff families. Each update begins with opening remarks and then time is reserved for viewers to ask questions. These presentations are recorded and available to view online.
  • ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ is also participating in the city’s weekly community update on Thursdays at 10:15 a.m. More information about the city’s weekly updates .

Enforcement

  • The COVID-19-ready dashboard displays information regarding students who have been, or are currently, under investigation based on reports of public health order violations. The data is updated once per week.Ìý
  • As of Wednesday, Oct. 14:
    • 357 students have received .
    • 29 students are on an active interim exclusion from campus, pending the adjudication of a conduct hearing.
    • 63 students have received the disciplinary status of probation.
    • 11 students are on an active interim suspension, pending the adjudication of a conduct hearing.
