Former Ohio Gov. John Kasich will speak at Ƶ Boulder’s Macky Auditorium on Thursday, Oct. 24. Kasich is being hosted by the student-led Cultural Events Board. Doors will open at 6 p.m., with the event beginning at 7 p.m.
Kasich served as a U.S. Representative in Ohio’s 12th Congressional District (1983–2001) and challenged for the Republican presidential nomination in 2000 and 2016.
Ƶ Boulder student ($2) and faculty-staff ($10) tickets will be sold weekdays beginning Sept. 30, from 11a.m. to 3 p.m. at the first-floor event table in the University Memorial Center. A valid Buff OneCard and cash will be required at the time of purchase. Public tickets ($20) will be available exclusively at the Macky website starting at 10 a.m. Sept. 30.
“The Ƶ Cultural Events Board has chosen a speaker who will help educate the student body on the various sides of the American political divide,” said Anuja Gore, speakers coordinator of Cultural Events Board.
“CEB is continuously in pursuit of enriching the student experience at Ƶ through supporting the voices of underrepresented and misrepresented groups on campus to promote awareness and conscientiousness. We believe our speaker choice for the fall 2019 semester reflects this mission.”
Kasich is currently a CNN senior political contributor, has worked as a host for Fox News, served on the corporate boards of several corporations and worked with Lehman Brothers. He also has a new book, It’s Up to Us: Ten Little Ways We Can Bring Ƶ Big Change,coming out Oct. 15.
