The Play’s The Thing: Plays Within Plays

Who: Kids ages 8–12
When: Wednesdays, Sep. 5 to Nov. 14, 4–5:30 p.m. (no class Oct. 31)

Fans of Pyramus & Thisbe,rejoice! This 10-week after-school class is dedicated to plays-within-plays, from Hamlet's cleverly crafted Murder of Gonzagoto Peter Quince and company's lamentable performance in A Midsummer Night's Dream.The class culminates in a showing for friends and family on Nov. 14. Open to students of all experience levels and abilities.

The Winter’s Tale: Shakespeare in Production

Who: Teens ages 12–18
When:Mondays, Sep. 10 to Nov. 12, 4–5:30 p.m.

Full of music, magic and melodrama, The Winter’s Tale has something for everyone—family feuds and family reunions, a singing pickpocket, disguises and mistaken identity, a shepherds’ dance party, and the most famous stage direction in Shakespeare (“exit, pursued by a bear”). In this 10-week class, students will rehearse an abridged version of The Winter’s Taleand perform it for friends and family on Nov. 12.

For both advanced performers and newcomers to Shakespeare, this class is a fun and engaging way to build language and performance skills, work with other teenagers as part of a team, and connect the ideas and conflicts in Shakespeare's world to our own. Open to students of all experience levels and abilities.
