The 2017 Rocky Mountain Showdown featuring the University of Colorado vs. Colorado State University will take place Friday, Sept. 1,at Sports Authority Field at Mile High in Denver. The kickoff for this highly anticipated event is at 6 p.m. and marks the 89th meeting of the Ƶ and CSU teams.
As the chiefs of the Denver, CSU and Ƶ police departments, we want to welcome all spectators to Denver for the game. We are providing the information in this letter to promote a safe and enjoyable game day experience. This nationally televised game will allow everyone to see Colorado is passionate about their respective teams and demonstrates good sportsmanship.
All students should be aware that underage drinking or any other law violations will not be tolerated. There will be a large contingent of uniformed and plain-clothes officers from each department assigned to the event. The primary responsibility of the officers is to maintain a safe environment for everyone attending or participating in the event.
Toward that end, officers will be directed to strictly enforce all applicable local and state laws. Special attention will be focused on alcohol possession and consumption. Violators will be cited and/or arrested for violations, and individuals found to be under the influence of alcohol who may pose a danger to themselves or others may be placed in a detoxification facility. The names of all students cited, arrested and/or ejected from the property will be shared with the Ƶ and CSU offices of student conduct. Students may face administrative sanctions upon their return to campus.
Sports Authority Field staff will be in the parking lots and will seize any banned items, including kegs. Sports Authority Field staff may eject unruly patrons from the site, including parking lots, and may seize their event tickets. Entry into the game can be expedited by bringing only permitted items into the stadium. Each fan is allowed the following items, which include a clear bag, no larger than 12” by 6” by 12” or a clear one-gallon freezer bag (Ziploc or similar) and a small clutch bag or purse no larger than 6.5” by 4.5”, with or without a strap.
The Rocky Mountain Showdown provides an opportunity for students, faculty, staffand fans from throughout the state to demonstrate their pride and support for their teams. Please act responsibly, encourage your friends and fellow fans to behave appropriately, travel safely to and from the game and enjoy yourself while in Denver.
