I saw this movie for the first time over the summer, and holy cow it’s so good! If you like action, comedy, romance, sci-fiÌýor just good movies in general, then get ye’ to Duane Field for outdoor movie night at 8 p.m. this fine evening. It’s completely free, so bring your friend, your date, your neighborÌýor a stranger, and don’t miss out.
If you haven’t yet had the pleasure, be sure to catch the (almost) best-picture Oscar winner of 2017 that everyone is still talking about.ÌýTo be screened at 8 p.m. at Williams Village Field, La La Land is a feel-good musical perfect for viewing under the stars. Need I say more?
Come and participate in one of Boulder’s fun summer community events: free folk dancing! From 7 to 8 p.m.,Ìýyou can get a dance lesson; and then show off your newfound moves from 8 to 10 p.m.ÌýYou needn’t have any experience or even a partner—just bring your dancing shoes toÌýthe 13thÌýStreet Plaza between Canyon and Arapahoe.

To all of the party people of ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Boulder: What are you doing this Wednesday night from 7 to 11 p.m.? I have a pretty good guess, and it involves trampolines, live music, free food, a rock wall, zip liningÌýand a few hundred of your closest friends. TheÌýspectacular Black and Gold Bash will be found on the Norlin Quad.ÌýAll are welcome; you need only bring your Buff OneCard!
Thursday, Aug. 24
As an introduction to Fiske Planetarium’s mind-bending, heart-thumping laser and music shows, come check out Liquid Sky Floyd, a lights-lasers-music-digital-images-on-the-dome spectacular to the soundtrack of Pink Floyd’s The Wall. I highly recommend bringing 3D glasses if you have them, as they really enhance the experience. The show runs from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.,Ìýand tickets are $10.
Friday, Aug.Ìý25
The UMC is the place to be Friday night from 7 to 11 p.m. Spread throughout the building will be all kinds of fun (and free) things to do, including billiards at The Connection, live music at Club 156, inflatables, games, a photo booth, improve comedy and a human gyroscope! Tons of free food will also abound, and all ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Boulder students are invited!
Every Friday night, the Program Council screens a new movie solely for our enjoyment—and because they’re awesome like that. To kick off the free fall film series, they give us The Fate of the Furious, starring all the usual Furious suspects: Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesel, Jason Statham and Michelle Rodriguez, who are back to kick even more butt and drive some more seriously cool cars. To catch this action-packed flick, bring your Buff OneCard to CHEM 140 at 9 p.m.
Saturday, Aug.Ìý26
The Welcomefest Concert is super fun and much anticipated every year, and this year’s free performance is headlined by Big Baby D.R.A.M. with Noname, Vanic and MTNMEN. For all ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Boulder students with a valid Buff OneCard, these bands will be throwing down starting at 5:30 p.m. atÌýFarrand Field—a fantastic place to dance away the night with your friends!
Monday, Aug.Ìý28
I know, the title seems counterintuitive. But it’s true, and that’s due to the Center for Student Involvement’s weekly Monday events, featuring a new theme each week. For instance, this week is snow-cone themed, and if you wander into the UMC North Dining Room between 2 and 3 p.m., you’ll get some free frozen snacks to pick up your spirits on the first day of classes.
