The Baseline Road underpass is set to open Friday at the south end of ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Boulder's main campus.

The city of Boulder plans to open the newly constructed Baseline Road pedestrian underpass on Friday, May 26.

The underpass will connect the south edge of ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Boulder’s campus to the Basemar Shopping Center, improving safety for cyclists, pedestrians and drivers.

In addition to increasing connectivity between existing sidewalks and multi-use paths, the project has also included reconstruction of the median on Baseline Road between 27th Way and Broadway, repaving of the same stretch and relocation of the B-Cycle station so that it’s closer to the reconstructed transit stop.

While the underpass is set to open Friday, repaving of the street is expected to extend through June 5 due to recent weather delays. Commuters to the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Boulder campus who use Baseline Road should note this work will include various lane closures. Drivers could experience significant delays.

A formal project completion celebration is slated for noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, at the south end of the underpass.
