"I am delighted to receive the 2015 Women in Aerospace Educator Award," said Axelrad. "It’s such a privilege to be a faculty member in the aerospace department at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ-Boulder. I have wonderful colleagues, great students and so many opportunities to teach and collaborate on exciting research projects."

The award recognizes Axelrad for her work as an instrumental leader in the development of hands-on curricula in the aerospace engineering program at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ-Boulder, as well as her devotion to mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, particularly women and underrepresented groups.

"One of my favorite aspects is working with students at all different levels through my teaching and research," she said. "It’s so rewarding to see my students advance through the program, maturing and developing as engineers, and then moving on to great success in industry and government labs."

Axelrad will be honored at the 30th Annual WIA Awards Dinner and Ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Ritz Carlton Pentagon City Hotel in Arlington, Virginia.Ìý
