Stephanie L. Cuthbertson, a senior at Northglenn High School, has been selected to receive the Luther and Helene Denzler Monberg Memorial Achievement Scholarship at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Cuthbertson will receive a $1,608 scholarship for her freshman year at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ-Boulder. She has a 3.95 grade-point average and plans to major in journalism.

The scholarship, provided by a ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ alumna and native of Leadville, is intended to provide financial help to deserving students who are active in their communities.

Cuthbertson is a member of the National Honor Society and has been active in church groups, the Northglenn High School Choir, Drama Club, International Thespian Society, Student Ambassadors and Columbine Girls State. She is a certified lifeguard and swimming instructor and has received numerous honors including Assistant Choir Director, Outstanding Social Studies Student of the Year, Outstanding Advanced Drama Student of the Year, Girls State delegate and Girls Nation alternate delegate.

The Luther and Helene Denzler Monberg Memorial Achievement Scholarship was established in 1994 in honor and in memory of two long-time residents of Leadville, Colo., who were active in the community and had a lifelong interest in education. One of the Monberg's two daughters, Helene C. Monberg, founded the scholarship program in honor of her parents and Rae Monberg Dabbert of Missoula, Mont.

Helene C. Monberg is a retired newswoman living in Washington, D.C. She has provided students with hundreds of scholarships to numerous colleges and trade schools since 1962.
