For Partners

QRX relies on strong relationships with both industry partners and academic partners in order to ensure that students are connected to top-quality internship opportunities and are adequately prepared to succeed in those positions.  See below for information on how partners contribute to QRX and what benefits partnership can entail.  Interested in learning more about partnership with QRX?  Please contact Q-SEnSE Director of Education and Workforce Development Mike Bennett.

QRX currently partners with Colorado-based QISE companies, laboratories, and nonprofits to provide internships and professional development opportunities for QRX students.  Partnership with QRX is free and requires a small amount of additional person-hours for participation in QRX events throughout the academic year.  QRX works with partners to determine the nature of events, but, broadly, all events are designed both to provide opportunities for students to gain professional skills and to facilitate closer relationships between students and our industry partners.  Events may include:

  • Industry meet-and-greets, both in-person and online through Zoom
  • Professional skills workshop: resumé-building, interviewing, letter writing, etc.
  • Q&A panels (topics may include "company culture," unique facets of the QISE workforce, typical career progressions, etc.)
  • Welcome celebration for accepted interns
  • Orientation/training for upcoming interns

In addition to any events, internship partners are asked to contribute a small amount of additional time and resources in the spring semester for onboarding and orientation for students who have been accepted to internship positions at their company.  This onboarding is designed to ensure that students from a variety of backgrounds and prior exposures to QISE are well-equipped to succeed once they step into their summer positions.  Onboarding activity may include:

  • Providing students with readings or written training material
  • Discussions of company culture and norms
  • QISE conceptual learning commensurate with internship needs
  • Refreshers for important technical skills
  • Connecting students to company contacts important for their success

Overall, partnership with QSRX is designed to place minimal additional strain on companies that partner with us, while also acknowledging that in order to achieve a diverse and skilled quantum workforce, we must work to accept and train a diverse set of motivated workers.

Industry partnership with QSRX does not require a monetary contribution.  Interested in joining in our cohort of company partners?  Email Q-SEnSE Director of Education and Workforce Development Mike Bennett.

Our academic partners are co-leaders in QRX and help determine the direction of the program, ensuring that it meets the needs of their students.  Academic partners can join QRX for free, and one of the program goals is to ensure that students are able to fully participate regardless of their academic path, work schedule, or other life constraints.  We work closely with faculty and staff at our academic partner institutions to ensure that events are designed and scheduled with students' busy lives in mind, and that students form a community at their institution in addition to the larger QRX community.

In addition to access to QRX internships, students at academic partner institutions receive the following benefits:

  • Supported access to professional development events throughout the academic year
  • Workshops and trainings for professional skills, which students can take beyond their QRX internship
  • Customized onboarding and pre-internship preparation based on their individual needs
  • Ongoing access to the QRX online community, QRX cohort members, and past participants

In order to ensure that QRX benefits not only students at academic partner institutions, but the faculty and staff members who help to facilitate the program, we are committed to working with partners to provide professional benefits.  Some potential benefits to faculty and staff of participation in the program include:

  • Access to the program's industry network
  • Collaborative support on evaluation/assessment of QRX impacts to partner institution students, as well as program-based research
  • Support for conference presentation of QRX activity
  • Continuing education opportunities and support

Because academic partners form the backbone of QRX, the program is dedicated to ensuring that partners benefit at all levels of participation, from students to staff to faculty.

Academic partnership with QRX is entirely free.  Interested in joining our group of academic partners?  Contact Q-SEnSE Director for Education and Workforce Development Mike Bennett at this link.
