College of Media, Communication and Information—A CMCI graduate took second place in the university’s New Venture Challenge for a company aiming to digitize how youth sports leagues hire and schedule referees.

Colorado Inno—A Boulder food-tech startup walked away with a $100,000 check after winning the New Venture Challenge Final Showcase, a multi-event entrepreneurial competition. FoodWise won the grand prize after going head-to-head against four other finalists last month. The startup, co-founded by four ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ undergraduates, is a software platform designed to help restaurants save money and reduce waste.

Leeds School of Business—Meet Tanner and Rebekah, two visionaries from Leeds who are reshaping how we think about healthy snacking. The idea for Better Bites sprouted from Tanner’s personal health and wellness journey. They’ve competed in the New Venture Challenge's (NVC) General Competition and Women Founders Competition.

The 2024 New Venture Challenge (NVC) culminated in a final showcase on April 17 in front of a live audience cheering on ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Boulder’s next big innovations. At an event filled with great ideas and even greater entrepreneurial spirit, five teams competed for $165,000 in prize money.

Coloradan Alumni Magazine—To help alleviate health issues caused by pathogens in water, a team of ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Boulder mechanical engineering students collaborated on a senior capstone project last spring to create PureSip, a prototype for a water purification system. The PureSip team pitched their idea at the 2023 New Venture Challenge

College of Engineering and Applied Science—Aerospace PhD student Spencer Dansereau aims to take carbon dioxide emissions from power plants and extract the carbon molecules to create 3D-printed carbon fiber, which can be used for everything from bicycles to aerospace components. In 2023, Mach Electric Aerospace took first place in ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Boulder’s Lab Venture Challenge business development competition and second place in the New Venture Challenge.

Deming Center for Entrepreneurship—Led by Brad Werner, the faculty director at the Deming Center, the New Venture Launch program is designed to equip participants with the essential skills to transform existing products, services and opportunities into tangible and operational ventures.
