Funding

In 2017, we received a generous $2.5 million gift from Bill and Kathy Scripps, ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ parents and backers of several university initiatives, to establish the Scripps ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ News Corps Endowment. The gift guarantees that News Corps will be a permanent and important part of the journalism curriculum for all undergraduates and many graduate students. It also means that News Corps students will have the funding to pursue stories about some of the complex issues facing Colorado and the Rocky Mountain West using state of the art reporting and storytelling techniques.

Bill is a great-grandson of newspaper publisher E.W. Scripps, founder of Scripps Howard Newspapers. He and Kathy are passionate about supporting journalism and had already supported ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ News Corps for several years when they made their sustaining gift.

Previous Gifts

News Corps in 2013 received a two-year $100,000 gift from the Scripps. The program received another two-year gift for 2015-2016. The money helps pay for training, equipment and faculty support.
