The programs in the Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literatures collectively represent a large part of Europe and parts of Asia. We offer students a broadly diverse, inclusive, international, and interdisciplinary experience in language and cultural studies. We prepare students to enter and actively participate in global communities and digital environments. Our courses engage with various media, literatures, histories, languages and more, taught in English, Russian, and German. We teach German, Russian, and Swedish language courses. Students reflect on their own identities as global citizens and explore their relationships to the world around them.
