IPWA is a 100% volunteer 501(c)3 non profit dedicated to preserving and protecting the Indian Peaks and James Peak Wilderness Areas. Due to their close proximity to the Colorado Front Range & Denver metro area, they are among the most heavily used wilderness areas in the U.S. and face increasing risk of degradation.
Since it was founded in 1985, the IPWA has partnered with the U.S. Forest Service Boulder Ranger District in a collaborative stewardship to preserve and protect these wilderness areas. The IPWA achieves its mission by managing several programs aligned within its four strategic goals of Wilderness Restoration, Education, Advocacy, and Patrolling.
