Abstract
Dr. Bailey will discuss her ongoing work to understand human-environment interactions for the intersecting goals of well-being of vulnerable populations, equity, and conservation. She will share findings from research across Sub-Saharan Africa with smallholder farming communities living in conservation landscapes.
She will focus on case studies from Southern and East Africa to highlight the importance of social capital and local organizations to support sustainable rural livelihoods and conservation goals under changing climatic conditions. She will also briefly describe her work to supporting justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in STEM.
