Geography student wins $20K sustainability grant
Geography student Shane Grigsby has won a $20,000 grant from the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Environmental Center for his project on "Topographic Mapping of the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Campus for Sustainability." Along with his faculty sponsor, Professor Babs Buttenfield, with in-kind support from graduate student Chris Anderson-Tarver, Shane will investigate the use of geometric properties to extract and classify building features on the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ campus. Measuring building heights and roof slopes, Shane will evaluate the potential solar capacity of campus buildings, resulting in a spatial assessment of the feasibility of solar development across campus.
