Please acknowledge the BioX core facility (RRID:SCR_019310) in publications, on posters, or in talks if you use any instruments in the SIP core facility. Please include BioX's RRID (RRID:SCR_019310) and the grant numbers for instruments funded through instrumentation grants in your acknowledgements. This is a requirement from the funding agencies and is crucial for future funding. Find example text on theÌýAcknowledgement Page.Ìý

The Biomolecular X-ray Crystallography Core (BioX) within the Department of Biochemistry offers extensive resources for the crystallisation and structural determination of biological macromolecules and complexes. Our primary aim is to support research efforts within the Department of Biochemistry, but we are equally delighted to offer assistance to researchers across the broader ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ community and to outside ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ researchers, provided our schedule and capacity allow.

We offer three temperature-controlled rooms (set at 20°C, 4°C, and 30°C) dedicated to crystallisation experiments. Our facilities include a Phoenix drop setter for setting up crystal trays, two RockImager systems for automated crystal imaging (at 20°C and 12°C), and several microscopes for manual imaging.

For crystal characterisation, cryoprotectant screening, and in-house data collection, we offer an XRD data collection system equipped with cryo-cooling. This system comprises a RIGAKU XtaLAB MM003 featuring a MicroMax-003 Microfocus sealed tube X-ray generator, an AFC11 Partial-χ 4-axis goniometer, a Dectris PILATUS 200K 2D hybrid pixel array detector, and an Oxford cryostream 700.

We also offer resources for remote data collection at synchrotrons and in-house facilities for crystallographic computation and model-building.
