This information is for those accepted for admission to the Economics PhD Program at Ƶ Boulder. By now you should see your admission letter and funding offer in your application portal. Helpful Information for the Visit
Travel to from Airport and within Boulder
Uber and Lyft rides to the hotel and from hotel to the airport will be reimbursed.
You are encouraged to use the RTD bus from the airport to the Hotel Boulderado. You will take the AB bus and it will take you directly to the Downtown Boulder Station where you can walk to the Hotel Boulderado. We will reimburse you for any Uber or Lyft taken to destinations for recruitment. Please keep all receipts and please make sure they are itemized.
Please communicate with the hotel about your check out plans, luggage and return to the airport. Because everyone is leaving at different days/times it is best to arrange it with the hotel. Uber and Lyft rides back to the airport will be reimbursed.
The SKIP bus runs up and down Broadway (the main road in Boulder) and is $6.00 for a day pass. It is a local route, more about .
Costs in Boulder
Boulder is a little bit more expensive than surrounding towns in the “front range” area. A typical dinner usually starts at about $12 to $15.
Boulder Environment
Boulder is a progressive city and embodies many different lifestyles. It is also right at the foot of the mountains! There are no current mask mandates in Boulder, however some businesses may require you to wear one. It is totally acceptable if you want to wear one. Boulder is BEAUTIFUL … a lovely place to spend the next 5 years. It is sunny over 300 days of the year and filled with so many free and affordable things to do outside and indoors. It is known for microbreweries, climbing, cycling, and a general love of the outdoors. There is a wonderful farmer’s market and live music Spring through Fall. Boulder is also only 30 minutes from Denver, which has some of the most renown museums.

Please remember, we are at high altitude. If you are not used to it, drinking water and taking breaks will help you acclimate. If you are seriously uncomfortable at any time, please let someone know.
