- After a shocking dearth of snow last year, the Sierra Nevada mountains of California and Nevada truly have been getting plastered, helping to build up the snowpack that millions of people depend on for water.

- This year’s Ted Scripps fellows in environmental journalism held a panel, titled “Journalism in the Age of Distraction,” at the University of Colorado Boulder about their careers.
- A scholarship drive has been launched to honor the memory of Kevin Kaufman, the longtime executive editor of the Daily Camera, who died Sunday after a months-long battle with cancer. Scholarship funds will support an ongoing journalism scholarship to the College of Media, Communications and Information at the University of Colorado in Kaufman's name and honor.
