    Journalism Instructor and Assistant Dean for Student Success Steve Jones started his career at Ƶ in 1976. Credited by alumni for setting “countless careers in motion,” teaching “with an open heart and open door,” and having “the greatest sly sense of humor and the best tie collection,” Jones will retire this December after 44 years.

    As a CMCI Student Ambassador, senior Madeleine Bendalin loved showing prospective Buffs around campus and serving as a resource for them. She also enjoyed giving joint tours with the friends, who she made recite facts about campus. In the future, Bendalin would love to recite more facts in her dream job as a White House Press Secretary. With a major in Strategic Communication and minors in Media Studies and Jewish Studies, Bendalin is CMCI's December 2020 William W. White Outstanding Graduate, awarded to the student with the highest GPA in the college.

    While preparing her master’s thesis, Autumn Tyler (MMediaSt’20) traveled 4,395 miles and took over a thousand photographs of Black LGBTQ+ artists for an exhibit called Roots. Self. Gaze. Now earning her PhD in media studies, Tyler writes that the experience taught her that, in order to move forward and grow, sometimes you must return to your roots.
