Are you looking for some cool virtual content? The Department of Critical Media Practices invites you to be a part of some unique online meetups, including virtual film festivals, album releases and much more! Here’s what’s happening this month:
Online Screenings: Erin Espelie’s Inside the Shared Life
Assistant Professor Erin Espelie has a two-week online screening of her film, Inside the Shared Life, including a conversation with Dorion Sagan. The screening was commissioned by the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid, Spain. Espelie was also invited for a now-postponed, in-person exhibition.
She also has a screening of her 2019 film Tenebrio Molitor in Australia at SCINEMA, and will participate in an online conference at the University of Alberta on May 7.
Virtual Film Festival: Featuring Tara Knight’s Unsettled
Associate Professor Tara Knight's short animation, Unsettled, has been selected for the Black Maria (Virtual) Film Festival in the "experimental" category.

Happening This Saturday: Open A/V Virtual Jam
Join DCMP PhD student Kimberley Bianca Warren and circuitBoard for a series of media arts meetups for prototyping in a collaborative environment. The goal of the meetup is to encourage dialogue around sustainable use of technology in the arts.
This meetup, happening at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, is an open audio/visual jam, allowing individuals to either steal the virtual stage from someone, or join them. It could get noisy or messy. (Meeting ID: 978 6888 7404).
