APRD lecturer returns from medical mission to Nepal

Jeff Blumenfeld, a lecturer in the Department of Advertising, Public Relations and Media Design at Ƶ Boulder, recently returned from a two-week mission to bring eye care to hundreds of people in Nepal.  Blumenfeld, who is president of local PR firm Blumenfeld and Associates, served as the communications director for the “Gift of Sight” expedition. 

The mission, run by non profit aid group Dooley Intermed International, provided quality eye care to Nepalis in remote or inaccessible areas of the country through eye exams, refractions and sight-restoring cataract surgeries. When finished, the crew of three ophthalmologists and support staff had successfully provided care for 800 Nepalis in the Upper Gorkha region, including 71 performed surgeries.
