Ƶ Boulder opens public relations society chapter
The founding executive board, comprised of nine Advertising, Public Relations and Media Design students, held the chapter’s first official meeting on Sept. 28. A record number of students attended the event due to their interest in the opportunity to be part of a national professional organization. “PRSSA has a long history of helping to prepare tomorrow's leaders of the PR profession," commented faculty advisor Dawn Doty. "Being part of the world's largest network of PR professionals is a benefit for students as they plan their post-graduation careers.”
Student leaders of getting students engaged with the public relations profession last fall. "The goal of last fall's initiative was to attract like-minded students to become more actively involved in the growing public relations industry and form a network of individuals and organizations compatible with their post-graduate career goals," said Ƶ's PRSSA President Scout Hill, a junior majoring in public relations.
Founded in 1968 by its parent organization, the Public Relations Society of America, PRSSA includes more than 11,000 student members and advisers, and is active at more than 330 colleges and universities.
