Nov. 19: CMCI Faculty and Graduate Student Colloquium: “Work from the Center for Environmental Journalism”
In “Palm Paradox,” Professor Michael Kodas will talk about his forthcoming book looking at the global fire crisis, including a recently published article on the booming global appetite for palm oil and how it’s driving massive fires in Indonesia and climate change species extinction.
In “Trash Talk,” MA student Gloria Dickie will talk about her current work looking at the increase in bear/human conflicts.
In “Front Range Burning,” MA students Kelsey Ray and Avery McGaha will look at disastrous fires along the Front Range and the recent prescribed fire at Heil Ranch inlight of a new study that Ƶ Professor Tom Veblen was involved in that looks at how the history of fire suppression in Colorado has increased the severity of fires.
