The Basic Needs Center is your campus care collective, connecting you to essential resources when you need them most. As a virtual and physical hub of services, we collaborate with on-campus and community partners to get you the care you need.

In 2020, Out Boulder County and the Boulder County and Boulder’s Human Relations Commission partnered with local homeless shelters and transitional shelters to affirm their support of the trans community. Those partner shelters included:

  • offers shelter for women, nonbinary and trans folks and their children.
  • , provides shelter, services and a crisis line for survivors of domestic violence.
  • is a youth homelessness organization offering free overnight shelter for anyone aged 12 - 20 and a free daytime drop-in center for anyone aged 12 - 24.
  • offers housing solutions, safe shelter, food and support services for adults in Boulder County.
  • offers weeknight dinners, case management and a ready-to-work employment program.
  • is a Longmont organization offering overnight and daytime shelter, street outreach, medical/emergency assistance and a SafeLot program that provides safe parking, storage, restrooms, meals and other resources for those living in their cars.
  • offers supportive housing, transitional housing, contracted housing with community partners, and no-cost housing for teens aged 16+ facing homelessness.
  • in Denver provides safe, comfortable shelter and personalized services for women, transgender and nonbinary individuals experiencing homelessness, providing extended-stay, housing-focused shelter 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Beds are assigned at 10 a.m. daily. Call the facility at 303-534-5411 to inquire about bed availability and complete a brief phone screen.

All-gender restrooms

. As a part of ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Boulder’s IDEA plan, the campus is working to convert numerous single-stall restrooms into gender-neutral facilities that can be used by all members of the community. The map is updated when facilities are converted.

Locker rooms

All-gender locker rooms at the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Boulder Rec Center provide privacy and help create more comfort and options for people who would prefer to be in a non gender-specific restroom or locker room.

All-gender locker rooms are on the first floor of the Rec Center in the locker room lounge, and all-gender wet locker rooms are by the pool. They feature private sinks and commodes, private showers and common-area lockers, including ADA-accessible lockers and showers.
