¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ the Book Club

The CHA, along with our co-sponsors, will host a book club to discuss , in which Ta-Nehisi Coates discusses traveling to Senegal and ruminates on the African diaspora (Ch. 1), visits a teacher in South Carolina who is being challenged for assigning Coates’s book (Ch. 2), and attends the Palestine Festival of Literature, where his previous understanding of Israel and Palestine is transformed (Ch. 3).

  • Book Club Dates: January - February 2025 (We will share out specific dates once we confirm discussion leaders)
  • Location: In-person and Zoom meetings

Discussion structure for book club meetings

  • Part I: Introduction, Chapter 1 (Coates' journey to Senegal and his reflections on the African diaspora), Chapter 2 (Coates visits a South Carolina teacher who is being challenged for teaching his book ).
  • Part II: Chapter 3 (Coates at the Palestine Festival of Literature, where his previous understanding of Israel and Palestine are transformed)

  1. Fill Out the - Sign up through our Google Form to participate in the discussion.
  2. Free Book Giveaway - The first 100 ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Boulder students/staff/faculty will receive a free copy of .
    • Note: On December 1st, we will open the Google Form for Boulder County community members who have no ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Boulder affiliation to request a free copy of the book. Boulder County community members can fill out the form now to join the book club, but book availability will not be confirmed until after Dec. 1st.
