First Year Advising

We have a comprehensive advising program designed to assist first year students with the transition to Leeds. You will have two mandatory advising meetings with your first-year advisor- one in the fall and one in the spring.  Your first year advisor will help you explore your interests and goals, think about ways to get involved on campus, and help you with any transition issues you may be having.

All first-year students must fulfill the fall advising requirement (details below) before registering for the spring semester.  This is to help you stay on track and assist you with starting your four-year planning.  Spring registration will take place in November – check Buff Portal for your specific registration time and date.

If you are enrolled in BADM 1250 Design Your Leeds: Your advisor will come to your class for an advising workshop.  This will fulfill your advising requirement and lift the registration hold.  Although you are welcome to schedule an individual appointment with your advisor, all information regarding spring registration will be covered in the class.

If you are NOT enrolled in BADM 1250 Design Your Leeds:  You must schedule an individual appointment with your academic advisor to get the registration hold lifted.  Please schedule your appointment well in advance of your assigned registration date so that you are not held back from registering.  .  If you are not sure who your first-year advisor is, you can look it up on Buff Portal.

All first-year students are required to attend a group advising workshop in the modality of their choice (including an option in Canvas) before registering for the fall semester. This is to help you stay on track, explore options, and make informed decisions when registering for classes. Workshops will begin in March, and first-year students will receive an email from LeedsUG@colorado.edu with details. Fall registration will take place in April - check the Enrollment Dates card in Buff Portal for your specific registration time and date.
